Junior Cricket

Junior Cricket

Our core focus continues to be to develop Junior Cricket in Petworth Park.

This season we are offering ECB All Stars Cricket for 5-8 year olds and a comprehensive Junior Cricket programme for 8-14 year olds on Friday evenings run by our team of ECB qualified Coaches and Support Coaches, including Junior Soft Ball Cricket (Dynamos mixed and Dynamos girls) and Junior Hard Ball Cricket.

Our Junior Cricket programmes are designed to accommodate a wide age range and abilities. Whether your child is new to cricket, they have previously participated in an ECB All Stars or Dynamos programme and are ready to move up to the next level, or they already play cricket and would like to come and play at Petworth Park CC, then there is something for everyone at Petworth Park CC.

ALL STARS CRICKET (for 5-8 year olds): Fridays, 5.30pm to 6.15pm
The ECB All Stars Cricket programme provides a fantastic first experience for children aged 5-8 years old offering jam-packed fun, activity and skills development. The programme is designed for all skill levels and provides your child with the foundations to begin a lifelong love of physical activity and cricket, while making friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.

The standard ECB All Stars programme is 8 weeks long but at PPCC we are offering more with 10 weeks of All Stars cricket fun in the stunning setting of Petworth Park! Our weekly 45 minute All Stars sessions run on Friday evenings from 10th May 2024 at a cost of just £60 per child for the whole programme.

DYNAMOS /JUNIOR SOFT BALL CRICKET (for 8-11 year olds): Fridays, 5.30pm to 6.30pm
Our Dynamos Junior Soft Ball Cricket programme is for those wanting to learn and build on the fundamental skills of cricket. Our Coaches focus on helping our young players develop their skills with an emphasis on being active and having fun with opportunities for match play suited to their age and/or ability, and progression to hard ball cricket.

Dynamos Junior Soft Ball Cricket sessions run on Friday evenings from Friday 10th May. The standard ECB Dynamos programme is 8 weeks long but at PPCC we are offering 10 weeks of Dynamos cricket with weekly 60 minute sessions at a cost of just £60 per child for the whole programme.

JUNIOR HARD BALL CRICKET (for 8-14 year olds): Fridays, 6.30pm to 8pm
Our Junior Hard Ball Cricket sessions offer more experienced young players the opportunity to practice / progress to hard ball cricket this season. Our emphasis at PPCC is on creating a safe, welcoming, fun, supportive and inclusive environment for our junior cricketers to learn and progress at their own pace and develop their game with competitive opportunities.

Junior Hard Ball Cricket sessions start Friday 3rd May, and all through the summer.

PPCC Junior Cricket Membership includes weekly coaching sessions on Friday evenings and opportunities for match play.

We are holding an in-person registration event at Petworth Park Cricket Club on Friday 19th April 2024, 5-7pm so you can come along and visit the club, meet the team including our coaches and sign up for membership; you can enjoy use of the Pavilion members bar and our coaches will be on hand to run some fun cricket sessions, and membership admin will be there to help with sign up and to answer any questions. We look forward to seeing you!

Set inside the beautiful 700 acre National Trust deer park, Petworth Park Sports Ground is home of Petworth Park Cricket Club and Petworth Football Club and supported by Petworth Town Council. PPCC and PFC are affiliated members of Petworth Park Sports CIC who are licensed to run the sports ground, bar and pavilion. PPS is a community interest company (CIC), a 'not for profit' company; any profit generated is used to grow and develop the facilities at the sports ground for the benefit of the community. Membership of PPCC automatically includes associate membership of PPS which enables all PPCC members to access the PPS members bar and pavilion facilities. For more information about PPS go to www.petworthparksports.co.uk

Friday nights at Petworth Park Sports are ‘Friday Family Fun Nights’ when the pavilion bar is open to members serving drinks, snacks and hot food; and a range of lawn sports are available for members use, so you can enjoy a relaxing start to your weekend whilst your child is enjoying their cricket session! The PPS pavilion bar is open to members from 5pm every Friday evening throughout the year and membership of Petworth Park Sports is included in every membership of PPCC.

All our coaches are qualified and DBS checked and Petworth Park Cricket Club adheres to the ECB Safe Hands Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy, overseen by our Club Safeguarding Officer, Clare Wiggs.
All our policies are available online or on request from our Club Safeguarding Officer who can be contacted at safeguarding@petworthparkcricket.org

We Need You!

We encourage parents to get as involved with the Club as much as they can, so if you are interested in helping out on our junior cricket evenings, or would be willing to manage a team on match days, please let us know!
In particular we would be grateful for help with the following this season:

  • parent coaching support (getting involved in cricket sessions)

  • managing a team

  • registration (checking attendees in and out of sessions)

  • helping to run PPS bar (supporting the bar person)

  • catering (help on the BBQ or in the kitchen)
  • None of the above require any prior experience as you will be fully briefed - just some willing hands to make light work! Even if you are only able to spare just one or two sessions out of the whole season it would be an amazing help.

If you'd like to get in touch please email us at juniors@petworthparkcricket.org

If you would like to discuss a possible bursary please see the information in this link: PPCC BURSARY
